The Power of Servant Leadership

LEADERSHIP Series: Servant Leaders Await Praise

Proverbs 27:2 (NIV) Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.

Luke 14:11 (NASB) For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

I Cor 10:12 (NASB) For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding.

II Cor 10:12 (NASB) For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends.

Discussion Guide

1. The context of II Cor 10:12 has to do with Paul’s apostleship. How does the truth of this verse apply to your business?

2. Even if your boss or your team members never praise you (because of the culture , not because of your ability) how do the verses above shape your “feelings” about who you are at work?

3. Do you have a collection of “happy user stories?” Why or why not? What needs to change?

4. If you are a company or team leader, how can you best influence the culture so that the team becomes focused on others and not self?
